For the second consecutive year, Windy Hill has been named as the venue to host the Kookaburra Men’s Premier Firsts Grand Final.
The Grand Final, to be held on 22–24 March, will return to ground which hosted last year’s decider between Melbourne and Carlton.
A renowned venue in Victorian cricket, Essendon Cricket Club has played at Windy Hill since 1872 and currently sits in the top three rated grounds across the Victorian Premier Cricket competition.
“We’re delighted to once again be hosting the 2023-24 Men’s Premier Grand Final,” said Simon Tobin, Essendon Cricket Club President.
“The ground is in excellent condition due to the very good work of curator Adam Thorne and his team.”
“We look forward to welcoming everybody to our home and hope as many people as possible can enjoy the three-day experience.”
The venue’s social club will be open providing full dining options, as well as the usual bar and kiosk facilities.
There are numerous public transport options available including nearby Essendon Train Station, tram and bus routes.
“Windy Hill is an outstanding facility and we are grateful to the Essendon Cricket Club for hosting our Men’s Premier Firsts Grand Final for the second consecutive year,” said Liam Murphy, Cricket Victoria’s General Manager of Premier Cricket and Community Cricket.
The CitiPower Centre and Albert Ground are unavailable to host the Men’s 1st XI Grand Final due to the Australian F1 Grand Prix being staged on the same weekend.
The Men’s Finals Series will commence on Saturday 2 March.
