Tigers snare Dowling Shield

Congratulations to Richmond Cricket Club, who overpowered Melbourne Cricket Club at the Junction Oval last Thursday, claiming the club’s 10th WJ Dowling Shield title. Richmond’s Ranbir Singh was named the Player of the Match for his outstanding all-round performance, scoring 35 runs with the bat, 3/24 with the ball, 2 catches and a run out.

The Tigers took their place in the Grand Final having progressed through from the top of their Pool, scoring a crushing victory against Camberwell Magpies in the Semi Final.

Melbourne had also advanced as the top-placed team in their Pool, defeating Carlton in a last ball thriller in the Semi Final.

The Dowling Shield tournament returned to the Under 16 age group this season as part of Cricket Victoria’s re-modelled Player Pathway.
